City of Freiburg stay at home order (March 20)

On March 20, the City of Freiburg issued a stay at home order. The following mandatory restrictions are in effect as of Friday, March 20 at midnight: 

1. Entry to public places is prohibited; this especially includes streets, paths, sidewalks, public open spaces, public recreation areas and parks.

2. The following exceptions apply: Entry to public places..

a. so as to avoid imminent dangers to life, limb and property
b. for the purpose of medical, psychotherapeutic or comparable curative treatments
c. to provide care and assistance for people in need of support
d. to cover the basic needs of everyday life (grocery stores, farmers' markets, pick-up and delivery services, beverage markets, pharmacies, medical supply stores, drugstores, gas stations, banks, post offices, hairdressers, dry cleaners, laundromats, newspaper sales, farm shops, construction, horticultural and animal supply stores)
e. so as to access the workplace, including bringing children to emergency child care
f. entry to open air public spaces alone or in pairs, with people living in the same household or with pets

For d. – f., a distance of min. 1.5 meters must be maintained.

3. Use of public transport is restricted to above 2. a. – e. A distance of min. 1.5 meters must be maintained.

4. During controls by the police and the municipal enforcement service, the reasons why an entry according to 2. above is permitted must be substantiated.

5. The regulations 1. – 4. are in effect as of Friday, March 20 at midnight and, for the time being, apply until April 3, 2020. 

Direct coercion can be used for violations of the provisions of this order.
