The Erasmus Prize for Liberal Arts and Sciences, funded by the Sparkasse Freiburg-Nördlicher Breisgau since 2013, underscores the epistemological focus of the Liberal Arts and Sciences study program at University College Freiburg. Since 2018 the prize is awarded in two categories: for Bachelor- and Master Theses and for Dissertations and first Postdoc-Papers.

The Erasmus Prize is awarded to scientific works that are exemplary in their interdisciplinary perspective and make a substantial contribution to bridging academic disciplines, such as the natural sciences and the humanities.

  • The prize addresses young researchers from all fields and faculties of the University of Freiburg and from University College Freiburg partner institutions.
  • The prize comes with an endowment of 1,500 Euro for Bachelor- and Master Theses and of 3,500 Euro for Dissertations and first Postdoc-Papers.
  • The Erasmus Prize Board of Trustees decides on the awarding of the prize. The UCF Director of Outreach is Chairman of the Board, a representative of the Sparkasse Freiburg participates in the Board meetings.
