Academic Interests

My current research focuses on the cross-country differences in regulation of religion. In particular, I am interested in how religious actors are treated in the authoritarian countries. Previously I have also published articles on family policy, fertility and women’s preferences in the contemporary welfare states.

In my role as a lecturer I have more than 1000 hours of classroom experience from academic teaching, covering topics from introductory courses in comparative politics to courses on the relationship between religion and politics, demography and the welfare state, regions in the EU and political theory. Many of these courses are directly related to my research.

In my teaching, I always aim to take a hands-on approach to theoretical questions. For example, in the Comparative Politics-course here at the UCF, I encourage the students to conduct their own research to learn about the cross-country differences in politics, policies and polities. Further, in the introductory course in Western Political Theory, the students learn in a PBL-setting, and apply the theories to current topics in daily politics.
