Dr. Mareike Zobel – Lecturer Governance

I am a cultural sociologist interested in futures research, social change, and cultural transformation. My current work investigates how engagements with the future relate to processes of subjectivation, touching on questions of future agency, neoliberal and posthumanist self-understandings, generational justice, and social transformation.

I joined UCF as a Lecturer in the Major Governance for the Summer and Winter terms 2024. Other than that, I am a Research Affiliate at the University of Cambridge, where I previously completed an MPhil in English Literature as well as an MPhil and a PhD in Sociology. For my undergraduate degree, I studied Theology, English and American Studies and Sociology at Yale and the University of Freiburg.

Both my research and my teaching are informed by a multidisciplinary academic background and my professional experience as a change and transformation consultant.
