Employability Event

Liberal education programs do not prepare graduates for a particular trajectory. Rather, LAS is a structured opportunity for students to develop and focus their interests and competencies. LAS students then pursue their own academic and professional goals throughout their studies and after graduation.

In summer 2016, the first LAS students graduated from UCF, the second cohort followed in 2017. Based on these first experiences, we can proudly say that UCF graduates are doing meaningful and interesting things:

  • Many UCF graduates pursue further academic training in Master and PhD programs. An extended list (but not complete) of such programs is available below.
  • Some have already graduated from 1-year Master programs and are now fully employed.
  • Other graduates engage themselves in intern- and traineeships in NGOs and Think Tanks, cultural organizations, or in businesses and social entrepreneurships.

We have posted stories about our graduates on our Facebook page:

  • Saskia: Sport Policy, Management & International Development (University of Edinburgh); Saskia won the British Council IELTS Award 2017 that comes with a 10,000 GBP scholarship. An interview with Saskia is available on the British Council website, a video portrait is on Youtube.
  • Caterine: Management of Public Relations and Communication Agencies (University Autonoma of Barcelona) and Project “Here and Black” (Freiburg)
  • Veronika: PhD Biorenewable Systems (Penn State University); more information on Veronika can be found on our website News&Blog

These first findings coincide with experiences at UCs in the Netherlands, e.g. in Maastricht. And they confirm our expectations as well as the often proclaimed
demand for internationally oriented graduates trained in interdisciplinary thought and action.

Wherever your interests and plans take you, we encourage you to stay in touch with UCF and with your Alma Mater, the University of Freiburg!
